"Towards a modern archaeology of typography"

Typography influences the time in which it lives and draws inspiration from it, transforms its codes and makes them its own. It marks whole generations, the great movements in thought, architecture, culture and fashion.

It is polymorphous, hybrid, constantly evolving, the messenger of deaf words and famous speeches. It is the thing that enables us to crystallise fleeting ideas, technical drawings of mechanisms that escape man alone, it takes us on a journey to the Moon and was the spokesman for revolutionary minorities.

At once slogan and sign, identity and anonymity, typography crosses the ages and leaves traces, to those to come and who, in their turn, make it their own. Over and above straightforward sequences of characters, glyphs and symbols that come together to form phrases, legends, it becomes image.

"Message and medium live and die together"

The themes raised by Type &(end) Textile see themselves as a protest just like typography itself, its role and its various applications. A message comes to life through its medium, which today finds itself multiplied, accumulated, copied, faked, reduced, until the meaning of its message is obscured.

Returning the typographical character or simply the message that its image conveys to its rightful place, investment in forgotten or new media, associating textile with ceramic, taking in creative metal- and woodwork.
